Academy Event Volunteer

Opportunity image

Do you enjoy talking to people and making them feel welcome?

Would you like to be part of making the busy events programme at V&A South Kensington happen?

Do you have, or want to build, experience supporting events or activities?

V&A Academy offers a wide range of free and paid-for events throughout the year, all with V&A collections at their core. Ranging from lectures and study days to workshops and walking tours, events are led by experts from the V&A and beyond exploring art, design, fashion and cultural history.

Academy Event Volunteers create unforgettable experiences for attendees by giving a great welcome, providing event information and offering a helping hand where needed. By capturing useful information like how many people attend an event, volunteers also inform insights that shape future programme development.

Each event is usually supported by one volunteer. We will ask you to arrive 15 minutes before start time for a briefing and set up, and to stay on to help staff wrap up after attendees have left. You will be able to indicate which events you would most like to help with, with events then being shared out amongst the volunteer team. Events take place on weekdays and weekends, and at different times throughout the day. You will be asked to give time flexibly once or twice a month, or more if you would like.

Information for applicants: If you are shortlisted for the role, you will need to attend an informal group session at V&A South Kensington on Monday 1 September (14:00-15.30). This is a chance to find out more about volunteering with Academy Events. If you are invited to join the programme, you will need to attend an induction session on Tuesday 9 September (14:00-15.30). We expect you would start volunteering in late September.
